Close, but no cigar?

I tried to draw in the original style of the Gantz comics(Hiroya Oku's style),
here are some sketches:

Here a page of the original comic(manga):

What do you think? Did I made any progress?

Well, I don't know if you made progress. I can't see any before pictures. But these sketches look really good and very much like the style of the one's in the original comic. I'd say it was a success.

Greetings and salutations.

I wont comment on the girl because I don't think the original character is in the sample you provided. The reason I think so is that the girl you drew has no bridge to her nose but the one in the original manga does. So I guess it's another character from the manga.

As for the guy, one of the differences I see is that you have made the tip of his nose protrude, and in the manga he has a very straight and narrow 'Marvel Superhero' type with no protruding tip. Secondly, his face in your versions appear more elongated. If you look at the area where his jaw bone meets his ear, in the manga the distance is short along that jaw line, but in yours it's more stretched out. The chin is working though!

Speaking of chins, I can see why you like this manga - it's so inventive! What a great idea those chin bongos are!!! Who would want an ipod when you can be walking down the street with live music whenever you want. You can have your own theme tune! All that's needed is a visor so you can lug a gamecube in a backpack and play Donkey Konga in the great outdoors. Challenge anyone to multiplayer! Saaaaaaaweet!

Before I'm finished I would just like to know, what's up with these people who ask their friends to kill them, like in that Gantz sample? I mean, if that guy was coming with this 'KILL ME...PLEASE...KATOU...UGH..', the other guy should be all like 'FUCKING KILL YOURSELF, you lazy BASTARD, I don't have time for your selfish bitching, I have to come up with some new chin bongo jams for the jazz club open night, sheesh!'

Step aside Hiroya Oku, and let Steffi create the next season of Gantz!!
I admire your funny and crazy versions of these characters, but you're also doing terrific job with these serious renditions. The hair is beautifully drawn, and I'm very impressed with the precision of details on Gantz suit (I always make some mess of it). Great stuff!

Aintshakespeare, Alexei, Mike: Thank you! :)

Crsp: You are right, the girl doesn't belong to the manga.
Thanks for your help!
Chin bongos! Hahahahaha!!!
I don't know what they are made for and I don't know how these round things calls(I call them "Life-savers"), but you are right it looks a little bit like bongos!XD
I love your drawing of the Chin bongos, it looks great and funny!!!
And I like your comments, because they are funny and they help me!:)

Hammerson: I still like the hair but every day when I look at my drawings I find more mistakes!
I have to train more!
